Lineage
血統
"A club bound by shared values and a love of spirits."
Mugen Lineage
A community forged in the traditions of the warrior and the artisan.
Kuniyoshi — Miyamoto Musashi, Edo Period
Mugen Lineage is a club bound by shared values and a love of spirits. There is no commitment to join other than a pledge to follow The Path when engaging with the community. Membership and advancement are bound by one's ability to uphold the principles.
The Lineage draws its philosophy from the teachings of Miyamoto Musashi — Japan's greatest swordsman, undefeated in sixty duels, and author of The Book of Five Rings. Musashi understood that mastery was not a destination but a discipline: a daily practice of refining one's craft, one's character, and one's relationship to the world.
In the same spirit, Mugen Lineage asks its members to walk a path — not of swordsmanship, but of hospitality, craft, and community. Each tier represents a stage of growth, from the humility of the apprentice to the authority of the daimyo. The journey is the reward.
"There is nothing outside of yourself that can ever enable you to get better, stronger, richer, quicker, or smarter. Everything is within."
— Miyamoto Musashi

Do not fear death.
Practice omotenashi (warm hospitality).

Miyamoto Musashi
宮本武蔵
Miyamoto Musashi (c. 1584–1645) is Japan's most celebrated swordsman — a ronin who fought his first duel at the age of thirteen and remained undefeated through more than sixty encounters. He was a master of the two-sword style (niten ichi-ryu), an accomplished painter, sculptor, and calligrapher, and the author of Go Rin No Sho — The Book of Five Rings.
Musashi's philosophy transcended combat. He believed that the principles of swordsmanship applied to every domain of life — from painting to carpentry to the governance of one's own spirit. His famous Dokkodo ("The Way of Walking Alone"), written in the final weeks of his life, distilled a lifetime of wisdom into twenty-one precepts of radical self-reliance and acceptance.
It is from Musashi's teachings — and from the broader traditions of Zen Buddhism that shaped his worldview — that the ten precepts of Mugen Lineage are drawn. To walk The Path is to honor the spirit of a man who understood that true mastery lies not in defeating others, but in conquering oneself.
"Do nothing that is of no use. Perceive that which cannot be seen with the eye. Today is victory over yourself of yesterday; tomorrow is your victory over lesser men."
— Miyamoto Musashi, Go Rin No Sho
